There hasn’t been a free market in medicine in a long time. (Long time as in black bags and house calls.) Just about every aspect of modern U.S. corporate healthcare is bloated by powerful antimarket forces. We already have government care; the only question government puts forward is whether we can take more of it.

Where is this free-market that’s supposedly taking care of our health care needs? 47 million people don’t have health coverage. They lose their house and homes when they get ill/injured, and/or rack up massive amounts of debt. What is your free market doing about that right now? Why should we expect it to be any different when libertarians rule the world?

Tom states that Libertarians fail to understand that “American prosperity is BASED on its hegemony and imperialism.” and “When you remove the economic, monetary, and military domination that the US imposes on the rest of the world, the US becomes a backwater again”. I guess I’ll be the one to remind him that such actions, while for a period of time, allow a nation to be a leader on the world stage, it also is always the downfall of that very nation. Also, we have a MASSIVE deficit with China. How would Tom feel on the day China decides to employ this previously used American skill on America itself? It’s unfortunantly bound to happen one day unless we start utilizing our creative efforts to stop relying on other nations, thereby no longer needing to employ any threats that will one day be used on us.
Nothing lasts forever…anyone who knows history knows that.

Time for a change before it’s too late.

I think that risk has crossed many Libertarians’ minds. I see the imperialism movement in the USA as a great inhibitor of progress…to the USA and to the world.

And as a Southern boy, I know that backwater equates to free living. I don’t mind if Russia has newer versions of Ipod as long as I’m free and have the nukes to stay free.

The usury Federal Reserve, income tax, and hyper-consumerism have all got to go!

Like all Libertarians, Ron Paul fails to understand that American prosperity is BASED on its hegemony and imperialism. When you remove the economic, monetary, and military domination that the US imposes on the rest of the world, the US becomes a backwater again. US foreign policy for the past 60 years has been to enforce this disparity of wealth. Change that foreign policy and the wealth evaporates. Allow Russia, Europe, or China to get access to Iranian and Iraqi oil, and the US becomes a bitch on the world stage.

Actually, except for the monopoly, advertising can be a part of the economics of supply and demand, as it inflates demand. So, jobs are created, and everyone “wins”.

Except, when the advertising is really lies, propaganda, lobbying, and pressure on government regulators that distorts the facts, suppresses competition, hides facts, that there are hundreds of versions of GNU/Linux to satisfy the individual needs.

Here’s more reasons…

-Resurrection of appreciation for the founding principles…particularly, the Constitution and its original intent

-Removing the Federal Reserve, releasing us from the income tax, the inflation tax, and the debt grip of the international banking cartel. Hopefully, the illegalization of usury…resulting in millions of Americans becoming debt-free!

-Defining what the government is really for…resulting in spending much less; thus, freedom from oppressive, corrupt, and inefficient government programs.

-Ending US imperialism (and the resulting blowback): pull military out of over 700 oppressive military bases around the world…heck, you could move them to protect our borders!

-Legalizing industrial hemp (not the smoking kind, although that would be infinately better than meth): hemp is a fantastic extremely renewable food (only plant with full protein), apparel, basic building material (google ford hemp car), and fuel source.

-Destroying the disruptive and degrading concept of group rights AND the education of the concept of individual rights…and the responsibilities that come with it.

-And much more!
