Just Come Home - Ron Paul gives great interview on FOX News

Ron Paul hits a home run after being interviewed by a very hot anchor shortly after winning the Iowa debate.

FOX News shows an amazing clip of Ron Paul at the Iowa debate on Aug 5. Then, Julie Banderas interviews Ron Paul in what may be one of the most civilized and fair interviews Ron Paul has had, yet.

  1. She took so much time making her questions as difficult as possible and tainted them with such a bias. It’s amazing Ron Paul answered them all so well and so morally right, so impressive on his part. I really hope enough people wake up and understand that his goal is to stay true to the constitution, the piece of paper that made America such a great nation.

  2. WOW! very good interview FOX!! Could this be a change for the better on your network? I sure hope so, would be nice to have people on America’s team working for FOX!!

  3. A fox interview without someone screaming over their guest…

    #ronpaul irc.freenode.net

  4. The reason he answers them so nicely is because he truely believes what he’s saying. We have a long road till Nov. 2008. I can guarantee that if this momentum picks up, it’s enough time for the “internet sensation” Of Ron paul to go mainstream into the homes of America, eventually big media will have no choice but to give as much attention to paul as they do to Clinton, Obama and Giuliani. I think America has a good chance of having a real president come 2008.

  5. Notice /how/ the interviewer says “alright” and “uhum” during the last two minutes. I’m glad Ron Paul could ignore that and answer as clearly and quickly as possible.

  6. great interview. even if i didn’t agree with pretty much everything he says (which i do), i’d still have to vote for him because having hillary in office would ruin this country.

  7. also, how hot is that reporter! go fox!

  8. Wow! I agree with everything: Ron Paul talks sense, it’s a great interview, and the anchor is hot. He is as close to having a third party, a refreshing change. I hope he gets enough small contributions from a large base so that he won’t be beholden to the same old same old.

  9. Very impressed with this guy. Im not big on politics but Ive been worried where our country is heading lately, and this guy really seems to know what we need and how to get us back on the right track. Ill definitly be voting for this guy.

  10. im starting to like this guy more and more, he answers questions direct and doesnt really lose or confuse you with what hes saying. you can also tell he does this for people like me who do not follow politics as much as some others, and do not want to decipher an answer to a simple question.

i loved the point he made along the lines of ‘the same people who say it will be a disaster to leave, aree the same people who said it wont be a disaster to go in’. i think its safe to say he will have my vote.

  11. FOX lets the truth out about the North American Union and the Amero replacing the US Dollar, the Canadian Dollar and Mexican Peso.

Amazing! Wow, it’s like the Network Media is almost catching up with the whistle blowers on the internet. (but not quite)

President Ron Paul - Restore the Republic - Ron Save America!

  12. Ron’s right about declaring war. That power is reserved to the congress, and sending American troops into harm’s way without a declared war is a dereliction of duty by the congress.

    -jcr

  13. Surely she is using Fox as a stepping stone into a real news organization.

If only Congress was made up of people like Ron we wouldn’t still be dragging along like we are in Iraq.

  14. If this guy is going to try to get me out of the Social Security scam, he gets my vote.

  15. Restore the Republic, Uphold the Constitution! Vote Ron Paul in 2008! Go Ron!

  16. I think Fox is responding to loses in ratings and a huge criticism they get on the internet. Make no mistake though, it will aways remain the number one spot for neo-con propaganda.

Fox News Memo: Ron Paul = Ratings. Don’t piss him off entirely to our network.

  17. I’m from Europe and I’m not an expert on politics, but (especially) since 9/11 American foreign policy is affecting us all, so I watch the 2008 election debates, both dem. and rep. and I have to say, from my viewpoint, Ron Paul is the only candidate that seems to make any sense and also appears to be most honest, sincere and at the same time very eloquent in presenting his case than any of the other candidates. Too bad he has no chance winning. I mean, lets be honest - US electoral system is very confusing to us Europeans and I don’t think it’s very democratic either (just think of the last 2 US elections…). Why does the US still stick with this system? And another comment: it seems to me the difference between the dem. and rep. party is ever more non-existant which makes the US seem (at least from our perspective) more and more like any other totalitarian regime of the past century which really is a shame considering what America and “the American way” stood for not so long ago…

  18. I didn’t know who this guy was a few weeks ago, but now he’s got my vote. I’ve always felt in past elections that my job was simply choosing between the lesser of two evils; not so with Ron Paul. He is a citizen and a statesman, and has a track record to back that up. I know it’s a long shot for him to get elected, but I realized that in this country, money is how we vote every day. Every dollar we spend is a vote for what we value. I just donated 50 votes to his campaign. Good luck, Dr. Paul.

  19. You go Ron Paul. Thanks FOX!

  20. I’ve been listening to him for awhile and definitely a fan. The problem as you have read is that not very many people know about him. If you like him you should try and tell others about him. Just tell others to check him out. He speaks for himself. If anyone knows a way to spread him you should definitely do it.

  21. I wish we could see more interviews like that , calm, polite and rational. Instead of idiots like Hannity and Billo yelling and belittling their guests.

  22. this whole interview was setup to show Ron Paul as sympathetic to the truther crowd. Fox hopes that just by his association with said crowd, he will scare away potential supporters who are of the republican rank and file. The problem is that, in doing so, they keep giving him a podium to win the hearts and minds of the viewers. The reason Ron is successful and is scaring a great many in power, is that his reasoning and logic behind the problems with our foreign and domestic policies is a paradigm shift away from how people have been taught to think. People step back after listening to him and say “My God, he makes so much sense, he is absolutely right. Then they start researching and BOOM, another VOTER.

  23. […] August 6, 2007 Ron Paul gets some love on Fox News. […]

  24. Ron has been saying the same thing for decades. He is not a politician. This has the establishment worried sick, as he won’t roll over on command like so many typical sociopath leaning so called leaders who switch positions to gain 2 percentage points in the Polls. I have lost track of how many times Hillary, Mitt, Rudy and Obama have flipped to gain a slight margin. Anyone else notice how unhealthy this is?

Ron Paul: We Won’t be Fooled Again!

  25. Kulpims– every word you say is dead on. About the electoral system, about the difference (or lack thereof) between Republicans and Democrats, etc. Sad that Europeans (and indeed most of the world) can see this but most Americans do not… A result of our horrific media, among other things, no doubt.

  26. This was my first encounter with Ron Paul, and as a Libertarian, I think I could live with his Republican views. It appears he’s not a evangelical religious conservative, so there is at least *some* chance he’ll be rational as president.

  27. What a silly question… Is there nothing better to ask than why do I have to put my gun in the trunk, unloaded when I drive. Probably for safety reasons. What do you need a gun in the front seat for? Expecting a terrorist attack?

The problem with American politics is that americans keep getting bogged down with stupid questions like the above and forget about what is actually happening.

Although, if you elect another republican you may want to keep your guns handy.

  28. Safety? What safety do you gain when you pull over to get gas and someone pulls a gun on you? Carrying concealed is part of our 2nd amendment right which has been trampled on by fearmongers. Incidents of violence decrease when the populous is allowed to carry concealed.

  29. He didn’t mention how many of Kmer Rouge murdered in Vietnam when we left. It was over 3 million. Do we want that on our hands if we leave Iraq?

  30. Our electoral system is not the problem. In our Constitution (Article II Section 1), the electors choose the President, not the people. The electors are chosen by the states, and can theoretically vote their conscience. “The majority” are not always right, and our Founders wanted a system of checks and balances. This is a layer of protection against mob rule.

The states are not required to hold Presidential elections at all, or to make any recommendation to the electors on what their votes should be.

Our problem is the *primary* system. We’ve allowed two major parties to create a quasi-government system that effectively limits our final choices at the ballot box to two. There is nothing in the Constitution about “primary” elections because *parties themselves* are not in the Constitution. In fact, George Washington warned us in his Farewell Address about the tyranny of political parties, and we would do well to heed that warning.

  31. Great, great stuff there. Some true conservatism on display here. I feel like the hardcore libs these days are about as close to socialism and communism as you can get. And the hardcore conservatives are an interesting mix of warmongering and Christian fundamentalism - and I’m a Christian. And here comes Ron Paul right up the middle - let people take care of themselves, enforce the Constitution, stop meddling with other nations, stop spending so much money, and protect our borders.

    He’s got my vote!

  32. Linda, if the Iraqi people want freedom, they will need to take hold of it themselves, with the blood of their own patriots, as we did 200 years ago, and as countless nations have since.

In the meantime, we should be focusing on taking back *our* rights to declare war through the congress, to be secure in our papers and persons, to keep and bear arms, to speak freely, to keep our *national* guards guarding our *nation*, and to have our taxes go to our infrastructure and national debt rather than into the war coffers.

  33. Thought he was great.
I love how he distinguishes between neocons and old republicans. People should learn the difference. Hats off to you ron paul

  34. Regarding the Khmer Rouge, first they were in Cambodia, secondly they came to power only because of the chaos of the Vietnam war which lead to the Khmer Rouge being able to operate in North Vietnamese held areas in Cambodia as the NV troops attacked South Vietnam, combined with the purge of leftists from goverment by Sianok which made lots of people angry.

Eventually Communist Vietnam did remove the Khmer Rouge regime from power in 1979 by indaving Cambodia.

Without the Vietnam War, the Khmer Roughe might not have ever found the chaos required for them to grow in power. This is exactly what is happening with Al Quaeda in Iraq.

  35. People keep saying Ron Paul has no chance of winning. But keep in mind, he is building steam FAST and the campaigns and debates started with way more lead time than they have in recent elections. So look forward to an interesting election. Personally I would write his name in if it wasn’t on the ballot anyway.

  36. As to the firearms comment from butcher99, what happens if you’re accosted along the way? It’s a rarity to be certain, but in that situation, isn’t it better to have it and not need it rather than the other way around? Safety, while a valid concern, is a moot issue if the weapon is maintained properly and fed with quality ammunition. All firearms have some form of manual lockout for the firing mechanism that’s easily disengaged in the event of a conflict.

  37. Very good interview. You guys all need to vote for Ron Paul. I know I would if I lived there. You have a chance to make everyone love Americans again, because I believe this guy could do it.

  38. I can’t agree with everything he says.

I think it’s very dangerous to disregard the importance of Social Security. Social Security is national *insurance*, not a scam. It helps protect each of us from the difficulties of old age and/or unexpected disability. The program certainly could use a house cleaning, but letting young people opt-out is foolish, as is the current $90k cap. I believe it is a duty of all Americans, as equals under the law, to equally participate in this fundamental humanistic endeavor.

I am also not pro-life. Trying to determine where life begins and ends is like trying to find the edge of the world. We should just make some sort of compromise and be done with it. As the Candidate of Freedom, I would hope he agrees that it is not right to hoist one’s own set of beliefs about this matter on others.

These points aside, however, I am in full support of Ron Paul. There’s no one who comes close, on either side to aisle, to his character, core beliefs, and the truly hopeful direction he can bring to our nation.

  39. […] read more | digg story […]

  40. Fiscal conservatism is a rare thing these days on the Republican ticket. So is libertarianism, for that matter. I think it’s exactly what this country needs. Less government spending and the re-establishment of the bill of rights. I’ll vote for him…

  41. I don’t agree with all his views, but he is right on the war. If America was able to elect such a humble man to the presidency then things would finally be looking up.

  42. […] just came across, yet another, interview with Ron Paul on Fox News — Fox is known to be so far left winged, they tend to bury these stories. Some people on Digg […]

  45. Just emailed Fox, thanking them.

    Ron Paul has my vote.

Long live the Constitution. (It’s not just any ol’ piece of paper)

  46. No more flowers or gifts to her please, as enough have been sent.

A simple polite thank you email from those who appreciate her interivew I think will continue to have a positive effect.

  47. Send the 35 bucks to Ron Paul instead…money better spent. The pretty talking head asked what can be regarded as loaded questions and could not trap him…because he tells you what he believes.

Faux Nooz has done nothing but parrot for the warhawks since day one. Should he avoid going on Faux Nooz because he disagree’s with the lying liars on Faux who told us the war would be easy and cost about 6 billion, the rest being paid out of Iraq oil money? Alex Jones; he has an audience and gave him time when no one else would kind of like Martin Luther King being in Playboy when no other magazine would touch him. (Back when Amerikans could read and not just listen to sound bites.)

She asked stupid question after stupid question and you want us to send her thank you notes and cookies?!!? Why, because unlike the other talking heads on Faux she was mostly polite didn’t talk over him, shout him down or tell him to shut up? As it was she grew impatient with his direct answers because she needed short answers so her regular viewers could understand them.

Faux will begin running hit pieces soon enough. Murdoch will get in trouble if the truth is found emanating from the flagship propaganda network. Ratings or no ratings they can’t have Ron Paul speaking the truth out loud where the sheep can hear him, they might wake up and realize they want their liberty back.

Restore the Republic. Punish the oath breakers. Uphold the Constitution for the united states of America.

  48. A big problem with our electoral process is that the old media generally supports the candidates with the most money. Those are the worst candidates because they are owned by special interest and lobbyists.

Dr. Ron Paul is the only major candidate not owned by military-industrial-complex, corporations, special interest, lobbyists, etc. Fix the system and vote Ron Paul. And tell everyone you know. Now is the time to set ourselves free.

Ron Paul places 1st or 2nd in every straw poll, debate, and active participation survey. Including this ABC debate!

Ron Paul is 1st on YouTube, Meetup, MySpace, Technorati, Alexa, Clickz, Google, etc. The old media is just too slow to realize what is happening.

Dr. Ron Paul has the most contributions from U.S. military personnel and veterans above all other candidates. So support the troops and vote Ron Paul!

Ron Paul is the candidate of the people and champion of the Constitution. He is the man of integrity and courage that America needs at this time.

And hit it. And hit it. And hit it. And hit it. And hit it. And hit it. And hit it. And hit it some more.

  51. Ron Paul is really what we need to clean up the mess G.W.B. made. Would be nice to have a president that trusts the people and listens to them.

  52. Excellent interview, Paul’s got the right solutions for everything.

    And that reporter is HOT!

  53. R. Tallent, thanks for the comments on electoral system - I agree about the primary being a huge constraint to giving voters more options and I never quite understood how and when this system came about(?) I just find it - well, silly. Still, I wonder why Ron Paul doesn’t contend as an independent - the rest of the rep. party clearly does not agree with his views and somehow I got the impression that his program (especially his foreign policy) is more to the dem. liking(?)

  54. His long answers annoyed me.

  55. I’m just upset with the actual debate, they only gave Romney, Guliani, and McCain any time to answer. Ron Paul didn’t even get to respond to half of the questions.

Maybe Fox is finally deciding to lift the blackout on this guy? I hope they lose all of the viewers over this! ABC, CNN, and all of the other horrible networks too!

  56. Headlines I’d like to see:
“Fox News Cancelled due to dwindling viewers”
“Ron Paul Elected President of the United States”

If you believe you can achieve.

  57. I was a democrat until I imagined the horror of a Clinton/Gulianni ticket in 2008. Next visit to the DMV, I changed my registration to republican.

    Why?

    Two things.

    The Constitution

    and

    Ron Paul

  58. I am a democrat who voted democrat since I thought my party represented my values (or most of them) as an American. However, through all of the elections I’ve voted in (not many, as I’m only 23), I’ve noticed that my party has begun to stray from what I thought it represented. A prime example being how I naively thought that the war would be over when the Dems took the House and Senate, instead they caved in to the Republicans (anyone other than Mr. Ron Paul of course) and decided to go with the winning side. Now the Dems realize their idiotic mistake and are too embarassed to do admit that they were wrong in giving in to the Republicans. So now they just go around agreeing with almost everything Bush Jr. says or does. I refuse to call Bush Jr. my president because he does not represent my ideals and my beliefs as an American. It honestly makes me sad to call myself an American under Bush Jr. This will be the first time (and probably not the last time) that I will vote Republican and actually be confident in my choice. Although I still choose not to change my party afilliation for personal reasons, I have confidence that Mr. Ron Paul will make me proud to be an American.

  59. Keep in mind that many states require primary voters to vote only in their party, i.e. if you are a registered Democrat you won’t be able to vote for Ron Paul. It is called a “closed primary” if this is the case. Check here to see if your state has an open or closed primary, and if it closed, be sure to change your party affiliation to Republican before the end of the year:

  60. LINDA: QUOTE- “He didn’t mention how many of Kmer Rouge murdered in Vietnam when we left. It was over 3 million. Do we want that on our hands if we leave Iraq?”

RESPONSE TO LINDA: You didn’t mention how many MORE AMERICAN soldiers will be killed IF WE STAY. Do you really want that on OUR hands?

  61. Ron Paul rocks! I think I’m in love with that reporter.

  62. Ron Paul has had my vote for a while now. About the issues - social security.. we don’t need it. Let people decide to save for their own retirement with their own money. I know I for one would rather not have the “government” babysit my money for me. He is pro-life yes, but he makes it make alot of sense.. but the biggest thing about that is that he does not believe it is the “federal” government to be involved in that issue. Iowan’s.. go to the STRAW POLL on Saturday and vote for RON PAUL!! I will also write him in if he is not on the ballot. There is no other candidate.

member of the Ron Paul Guard, Anchorage AK.

  63. This is the best stumble I’ve seen today. I’ve advocated for Ron Paul for months now. If you truly want positive change in our Country, then study this man. Then vote for him. I’ve been a D.E.M. all my life, but will be voting Republican this time around. Ron Paul ‘08!

  64. Of course, Ron Paul will not say the government didn’t stage 9/11…it’s political suicide to say that. But I think he believes that it is probable that 9/11 was an inside job…and inside doesn’t necessarily mean the Bush administration. Hello? International banking cartel!

  65. I love it when people claim Ron Paul isn’t a Republican. It gives Ron Paul a chance to explain how the other GOP candidates ARE NOT Republican.

  66. finally, a candidate willing to turn the republican back around for good! A true conservative is a libertarian and it makes me proud! Perfect answers!

  67. THE FREEDOM REVOLUTION IS COMING!!!!!!!!!
    GO RON PAUL!!!!!!!!

  68. Please Ron, don’t give up hope. You are bringing hope to all of us that are disconnected with our nation.

You represent hope for America, and for most, our last hope. We are perilously close to losing our great nation to apathy. How many more leaders can we afford who’s votes are for sale, who’s talking points are dictated in boardrooms, and who’s values have been compromised.

Ron, I know you can win this thing, and it will be nothing short of a revolution of freedom.

  69. Ron Paul is right on many of the issues but I don’t see how he can not believe that 9-11 wasn’t an inside job. There is way too much evidence and ‘coincidences’ concerning the details to disavow that it was a conspiracy. Any descent detective will tell you 9-11 was inside…if he’s being honest. I think he may be trying to avoid a ‘conspiracy theorist’ label because America as a whole isn’t anywhere near ready or wanting, to know the truth. Until that day, this country will continue down the mire tube, Ron Paul will fail to get elected, and we will have to fight against the people that were ’supposed’ to protect us.

  70. Nice!
Make sure you spread the word to people off the internet.
    www.ronpaulhq.com

  71. Someday soon we can ALL proclaim:

When we let freedom ring, when we let it ring from every village and every hamlet, from every state and every city, we will be able to speed up that day when all of God’s children, black men and white men, Jews and gentiles, Protestants and Catholics, will be able to join hands and sing in the words of the old Negro spiritual,

“Free at last! Free at last! Thank God Almighty, we are free at last!”
    by Dr. King

Free from overbearing taxation, Orwellian government, globalization…

The journey of a thousand miles starts with a single step. Together we can reclaim our rights!

Don’t let the media and the establishment continue to divide us through race, creed, color or “social status”. We ALL need to work together now to keep from fighting next to each other later. For if our course is not changed soon, sadly the tree of liberty will need refreshed.

“The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.”
    by Thomas Jefferson.

  72. Finally a presidential candidate that actually says something when he talks.
    You go Dr. Ron Paul.

  73. they spilled the beans on the north american union! Unfortunately Americans are so sedated, stupid, ignorant and fat that they will pay it no mind. sleep on america sleep on.

  74. Dear mediputz, I agree that Americans are sedated but “everyone” that I tell about Ron Paul wakes up. I woke up three people last week and I will continue to sound the alarms. I am going out today with the kids, Ron Paul bios, fact sheet on the FED and a smile to wake up as many Americans as I can.

  75. Yes, Fox was not all niceties on this interview, but still a vast improvement. Trying to get all tricky asking him about his affiliation with our homeboy Alex. Did you see that sad look on Dr. Ron’s face when he answered? He knew that the American people aren’t ready for the whole truth and I could see the pain he had in trying to explain himself, halfway. But that in itself is wonderful to see! The sadness of not speaking completely on the subject actually bothered him. Thats moral fortitude! Don’t worry Dr. Ron, I wouldn’t tell a Nazi I had Jews in my basement either.

I would bet that he doesn’t agree totally with Alex on all points, but understands his fears of the very real neocon/fascist movement that has been steadily preparing for the take over of this great country for decades.

    All nations fall…think about it…ALL
    not on my watch!
    VOTE RON PAUL!
    he’s the doctor on call…

    Namaste

  76. I have been a fan of Ron Paul for a long time. Ron Paul is the first presidential candidate that I proudly promote. I’m sick and tired of self serving, immoral, power hungry, war mongering, corporate serving, anti-freedom, fascist, filthy rich, career politicians. I’m tired of all the corruption and lies.

I see Ron Paul has the last true hope for America.

  77. Dr. Paul is such a decent, moral, and honest man. How refreshing it will be to have someone of his character in the White House. America will return to her rightful place in the world. Respected and admired and a beacon of hope and peace. Dr. Paul is America’s last and best hope.

  78. I say this with all seriousness. The country will probably disintegrate and be carved up the Chinese if Ron Paul does not win. It will take time, but we are on the road to perdition.

America needs Ron Paul more than ever, and everyone who supports Ron Paul loves him as he is the closest thing to family we have ever seen in government.

Ron Paul, for what is just, what is right, and what is our Nation’s root modus, the Constitution and Freedom and Liberty for All.

    Think for yourself, question authority.

One of my favorite quotes about Dr. Paul, “You’re working for the most honest man in Congress.” That was John McCain speaking to Kent Snyder in 1988.

    Ron Paul is a constitutionalist.

Ron has never voted to raise taxes.
Ron has never voted for an unbalanced budget.
Ron has never voted for the Iraq War.
Ron has never voted for a federal restriction on gun ownership.
Ron has never voted to increase the power of the executive branch.
Ron has never voted to raise congressional pay.
Ron has never taken a government-paid junket.

Ron voted against the Patriot Act.
Ron votes against regulating the Internet.
Ron voted against NAFTA and CAFTA.
Ron votes against the United Nations.
Ron votes against the welfare state.
Ron votes against reinstating a military draft.

Ron votes to preserve the constitution.
Ron votes to cut government spending.
Ron votes to lower healthcare costs.
Ron votes to end the war on drugs.
Ron votes to protect civil liberties.
Ron votes to secure our borders with real immigration reform.
Ron votes to eliminate tax funded abortions and to overturn Roe v Wade.
Ron votes to protect religious freedom.

  79. Attention Ron Paul supporters!
We can reach 50,000 people who already support Ron Paul here or we can reach 5,000,000 people who haven’t heard of Ron Paul by posting on the iphone, american idol, oprah sites.

The internet can be a force multiplier. Get the word out. Vote for Ron Paul!

Pass this tip along to fellow supporters. Thanks.

  81. Nice interview and I’m really surprised that Fox has such a hot and intelligent anchor. That’s a first!

  82. […] Just Come Home - Ron Paul gives best interview, yet, on FOX News […]

  83. Julie Banderas is nothing more than a Fox News Puppet, spitting out these ridiculously biased and curve-ball questions created by Fox News think-tanks to try and trip up Ron Paul by getting him to say something he’ll regret in front of the American people, but he’s not a complete moron like Bush and actually knows what he’s talking about, not just reading some script. He tells it like it is and caves for no-one, unlike Giuliani who prefers to tuck his tail between his legs out of fear of being rejected by his own party. Ron Paul understands what needs to be done to save this country and how to do so in a logical and practical way. He’s the only hope this country has.

  84. People can NOT keep brushing the social security issue aside - it is downright ignorant. You will have thousands of homeless disabled and elderly if you ‘do away’ with it. Do you all think you will be young and strong forever? Are you honestly that short sighted? (I’m only 31 years old and NOT on govt assistance btw.)

People with family and friends who are in dire need of their disability need to speak up LOUDLY and OFTEN on the Ron Paul websites! You should be very afraid, this old man hasn’t a clue about disabled people, despite being a doctor! There are only so many positions for wal-mart door greeter for disabled people, those genuinely in need is SS/disability can’t do much else. And it COULD be any of us, anytime. Please take a step back and think about this even if it doesn’t impact you immediately.

PEOPLE WHO ARE UNABLE TO WORK WILL NOT HAVE ANY MONEY. What then? He is opposed to state-assisted suicide… which would be the only way to avoid becoming homeless, for MANY of these people. No matter how young you are now, one day you, too WILL be elderly and in need of a social security program to take care of you. Pensions are weaker than ever before, and non-existant in many places today that they used to be commonplace. Please THINK.

  85. YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!!!!!!!
    haha what questions!!
The more they try, the more they’re exposed and the better he responds, it’s amazing!

  86. Sigh… Vera, Ron Paul has often mentioned that he would not just “abolish” safety net programs like social security. He would allow people to get out of it if they wanted to while he would save hundreds of billions by being a non-interventionist and veto any pork spending while still being able to take care of the soldiers and people that need any type of healthcare and are dependant.

–”You should be very afraid, this old man hasn’t a clue about disabled people, despite being a doctor!”– He knows very well about disabled people. He served during Vietnam for God’s sake. Please stop spewing misinformation about him. Being a congressman, he is very aware of the failure of social security funds and the impact if will have on the younger generation. Social security has been used as part of the regular budget meaning young people will have to pay for it, and we cannot handle both a failing war and a failing social security program at once. If anything, the other candidates will probably just raise the age requirement and lower the payments.

  87. Shadyhunter: “we cannot handle both a failing war and a failing social security program at once.”

We agree that the Republicans’ Iraq war has been an utter failure.

But we disagree that Social Security is a failure. Right-wingers have accused Social Security of failing every year the last 70+ years of its existence. Have right-wingers ever been right in predicting it to fail? NO!

Republicans have been wrong every year in predicting the failure Social Security, and Republicans will continue to be wrong.

Of course, as the party of big business, Republicans (including Ron Paul) are paid to grumble about programs that support working people- even popular, successful programs like Social Security.

  88. Freddy, you continue to attack Ron Paul by associating him with Republicans. I suggest you study guilt-by-association fallacies.

Ron Paul wants to offer people the option to opt out of Social Security.

If equating Ron Paul to the neoconservatives was meaningful, then Ron Paul would be for the war and the Patriot Act. But Ron Paul is not.

Of course, the real neoconservatives are Hillary Clinton, Giuliani, Dick Cheney, and Bush.

  89. Sand complains: “Freddy, you continue to attack Ron Paul by associating him with Republicans.”

Uh, Sand, I know you have a lot of illusions about politics that I have had to prove you wrong about, but, ah, I don’t know how to say this politely, but…

RON PAUL IS A REPUBLICAN! LOL!

Sand “I suggest you study guilt-by-association fallacies.”

I suggest you study ACTUAL REALITY. Ron Paul is a REPUBLICAN! LOL!

Ron Paul is running for the nomination of REPUBLICAN PARTY! ROTFL!

Sand: “Ron Paul wants to offer people the option to opt out of Social Security.”

Yes, and that would be a position of… THE REPUBLICANS!

Sand: “If equating Ron Paul to the neoconservatives was meaningful, then Ron Paul would be for the war and the Patriot Act. But Ron Paul is not.”

Here comes Sand with another Straw Man argument. When did I equate Ron Paul with those peculiar Republican off-shoots, the neocon men? SAND FAILS AGAIN, because I never called Ron Paul a neocon men.

Ron Paul is a different type of con… er, conservative man.

Sand “Of course, the real neoconservatives are Hillary Clinton, Giuliani, Dick Cheney, and Bush.”

Typical Ron Paulist tactic. Lump together Ron Paul’s fellow FAILED REPUBLICANS with non-conservative non-Republican Clinton. Oh, yeah, and Sand offers ZERO evidence in support. SAND FAILS AGAIN!

Great post, Sand. You kinda maybe had a fact or two here. Your fact-to-word ratio is improving. Just so Sand can comprehend:

    Ron Paul = REPUBLICAN
    Hillary Clinton = DEMOCRAT

    Got it now, Sand?

Until then, ANY DEMOCRAT IS BETTER than Ron Paul in
    1) ending the war AND
    2) preserving abortion rights AND
    3) in protecting and strengthening Social Security instead of undercutting it.

  90. Hugh: “She took so much time making her questions as difficult as possible and tainted them with such a bias”

LOL. I’m sure you Ron Paul supporters are every bit as offended at Fox News’ distortions and hypocrisy when they are aimed at liberals as you are the FEW TIMES when Fox is biased against Republicans, right?

Also, I notice that in this clip, Ron Paul is quite sure that “the right to carry and bear arms should be interstate.” But Ron Paul is ALSO sure that the right to be secure in our persons and effects should NOT be interstate because Ron Paul supports bans on abortion at the Federal level!

(Even though Ron Paul also CONTRADICTS HIMSELF BY SAYING that bans on abortion should be ONLY made by the states).

Ron Paul also says that the framers of the Constitution “never thought for a minute in those early days that you couldn’t carry your shotgun from state to state.”

But the framers of the Constitution also “never thought for a minute in those early days that a fetus is a person.” So how can Ron Paul contradict them to believe Pat Robertson’s fantasy that human life “begins” at conception?

Ron Paul supporters sure love this mess of inconsistency and hypocrisy.

Or maybe Ron Paul is not inconsistent. Apart from the Iraq war, Ron Paul seems pretty consistent– with the agenda of the RELIGIOUS RIGHT!
    ——-
Any Democrat in the race is better than Ron Paul on ending the war AND protecting Constitutional reproductive freedoms. And they won’t bend the knee to the Religious Right.

  91. Ok, Freddy. So you love Clinton, Obama and Edwards. If they had run as Republicans you simply wouldn’t vote for them?

  92. Sand asks “If they had run as Republicans you simply wouldn’t vote for them?”

Wrong again! I’ve voted for Republicans, and I may do so again, if the Republicans ever stop trying to use government to establish religion. Regardless of party,
I would not vote for Clinton, Obama or Edwards if:

    1) if they voted to expand the deficit by supporting the Religious Right’s agenda of irresponsible tax cuts that go mainly to the wealthy. Like Ron Paul did, right?

    2) if they introduced legislation to define human life as starting at conception– a bogus concept that lacks any science but comes ONLY from the religious right. Like Ron Paul did. Right?

    3) if they promote teaching junk science in the schools, like the so-called “alternative views” to evolution. Like Ron Paul did. Right?

    4) if they voted THE MAJORITY OF THE TIME with the Republican party line- a party line which overwhelmingly supported Bush’s failed agenda. Like Ron Paul did. Right?

    5) So looks like Sand missed the points again:
I’m sure you Ron Paul supporters are every bit as offended at Fox News’ distortions and hypocrisy when they are aimed at liberals as you are the FEW TIMES when Fox is biased against Republicans, right, Sand? Lots of evidence of that? Or do Ron Paul followers only get upset when Fox is unfair and unbalanced to another Republican?

    6) Also, I notice that in this clip, Ron Paul is quite sure that “the right to carry and bear arms should be interstate.” But Ron Paul is ALSO sure that the right to be secure in our persons and effects should NOT be interstate because Ron Paul supports bans on abortion at the Federal level! More Ron Paul hypocrisy, Sand?

(Even though Ron Paul also CONTRADICTS HIMSELF BY SAYING that bans on abortion should be ONLY made by the states.)

    6) Ron Paul also says that the framers of the Constitution “never thought for a minute in those early days that you couldn’t carry your shotgun from state to state.”

But the framers of the Constitution also “never thought for a minute in those early days that a fetus is a person.” So how can Ron Paul contradict the founders by trying to enforce Pat Robertson’s fantasy that human life “begins” at conception?

    ——-
Any Democrat in the race is better than Ron Paul on ending the war AND protecting Constitutional reproductive freedoms. And they won’t bend the knee to the Religious Right.

  93. 5) Actually, I was offended by FOX News’ distortions of Obama’s childhood, and their false insinuations that he was connected to extremists. I hate FOX News as much as Democrats and liberals do. So I didn’t miss any points. What you wrote is completely irrelevant to anything I said.

Also, while Indonesia is one of the largest Muslim countries in the world, they are also tolerant of Christianity, Buddhism, Hinduism and Confucianism.

As you can see, FOX News plays the same game that you do, they imply lies about Obama the same way you imply lies about Ron Paul.

Last, but not least, the fact that you think I am partisan shows your prejudice.

  94. As for (1) the Democrats you like have consistently voted for irresponsible spending, including the war and the Patriot Act, so it is hypocritical of you to criticize tax cuts.

As for (3) Ron Paul, that’s inaccurate. Ron Paul has simply said yes to the following question: “Will you encourage a more open approach to the presentation of scientific facts that contradict the theory of evolution?”

That’s what any good science teacher would do. They would certainly discuss scientific facts that contradict the theory of evolution. That doesn’t mean Ron Paul promotes creationism.

  95. Though Sand again fails to actually answer most points, he does make an attempt. So I will suffer his questions gladly.
Sand: “5) Actually, I was offended by FOX News’ distortions of Obama’s childhood”

“Distortions”? They were outright LIES. Why make it sound better than it was? I note that those character-assassinating, far-right talking points were recently echoed by Democrat Bob Kerry who also deserves rebuke, though he has apologized- unlike Rupert Murdoch and Roger Ailes.

    7) Sand “I hate FOX News as much as Democrats and liberals do. So I didn’t miss any points.”

Yes you did miss the points. You missed the points made in post #90. I reposted those points in post #92, and reminded you that you missed those points. And then you responded to them, but claimed you did not miss them. Understand now? You’ve also missed points all over this partisan pro-Paul website, especially all the places where I PROVED YOU WRONG. Do I need to repost all those too?

    8) Sand “What you wrote is completely irrelevant to anything I said.”

    How?

    9) Sand “As you can see, FOX News plays the same game that you do, they imply lies about Obama the same way you imply lies about Ron Paul.”

The problem with Fox News is not that they “imply lies.” The problem is that Fox News ACTUALLY TELLS LIES. Many of them. Constantly. Not the least of which is the lie that they are “fair and balanced” journalists when they are partisan propagandists and character assassins. Just like this very Website LIES when it claims to be “open-minded and neutral” but is really just a partisan pro-Paul site. Right?

    10) Or, as you would call it, “partisan hackery.” Right?

    11) And please point out all the “lies” I have “implied” about Ron Paul.

    12) Sand “Last, but not least, the fact that you think I am partisan shows your prejudice.”

LOL. Did I call you “partisan?” Or did you introduce that term referring to ME? LOL! More of Sand’s psychological projection!

I believe I asked you what you meant by that expression when YOU accused me of it. Did you answer? No. You fled the discussion. Do you have an answer now?

    13) The problem you made for yourself when you hurled that term is that “partisan” has two meanings- one positive and one negative. Did you mean “a firm adherent to a party, faction, cause, or person? Or did you mean “one exhibiting blind, prejudiced, and unreasoning allegiance” Do you admit that you were, at the very least, unclear?

    14) How did I prejudge you?

    15) Sand: “As for (1) the Democrats you like have consistently voted for irresponsible spending, including the war and the Patriot Act, so it is hypocritical of you to criticize tax cuts.”

LOL! Mr. “formal logic” Sand FAILS to understand basic logic. Even if it is true that the Democratic congress has voted for irresponsible spending, how is hypocritical of ME to criticize the massively irresponsible budget deficit created by Bush and the Republicans AND RON PAUL?

    16) And you are wrong again. I criticize wasteful spending from Democrats and Republicans alike. BUT- the Democrats have proven to be FAR MORE FISCALLY RESPONSIBLE than Republicans.

Remember, in recent history, a Republican-controlled Congress has FAILED to reduce the deficit except under divided government- when the president was that mighty deficit cutter, President Clinton. A Republican-controlled Congress under a Republican President FAILED to cut the deficit, especially when the President is one of the worst in history- Republican G W Bush.

So, on balance, the Democratic Congress has proved to be far better at reducing spending and reducing the deficit, because they could do it even when their party had total control of the executive and the legislative. Republicans failed to do that under six years of total control of the executive and the legislative.

Republicans have proven to be far more wasteful than the so-called “big spending” Democrats, and Ron Paul deserves full criticism for exploding the Bush deficit with Republican tax cuts that have NOT BEEN OFFSET by Republican tax savings. Yes, Ron Paul voted against a lot of wasteful Republican spending. But where was Dr No when it came time to give away the people’s money to the wealthy and burden our children with crushing deficits? At the least, Ron Paul’s vote for unpaid-for tax cuts was very irresponsible. Couldn’t Ron Paul have voted against tax cuts for the wealthy until his fiscally irresponsible Republican leaders cut spending to offset tax cuts?

    17) Sand: “As for (3) Ron Paul, that’s inaccurate. Ron Paul has simply said yes to the following question: “Will you encourage a more open approach to the presentation of scientific facts that contradict the theory of evolution?”That’s what any good science teacher would do. They would certainly discuss scientific facts that contradict the theory of evolution. That doesn’t mean Ron Paul promotes creationism.”

WHAT scientific FACTS that contradict the theory of evolution? Remember that pseudoscience does not count.

    18) Do you at least agree that anyone moronic enough to DENY evolution (like Huckabee) is simply too much of a moron to be president? (or too controlled by Pat Robertson to be president)?

    19) And how come you STILL FAIL to respond to questions about Ron Paul saying Bush should be impeached. So WHY DID RON PAUL VOTE TO PROTECT BUSH FROM IMPEACHMENT?

    —–
ANY DEMOCRAT IS BETTER than Ron Paul in
    1) ending the war AND
    2) preserving abortion rights AND
    3) protecting and strengthening Social Security instead of undercutting it.

  96. “I criticize wasteful spending from Democrats and Republicans alike.

I agree. That’s why I will be voting for Ron Paul in the primaries. He is unlike any other candidate when it comes to spending.

  97. In fact, without addressing all the insignificant or loaded questions you ask, I can offer the following:

Ron Paul > Most Democrats > Most Republicans.

  98. “WHAT scientific FACTS that contradict the theory of evolution? Remember that pseudoscience does not count.”

None that I am aware of. If they come up, I think you would agree that they deserve to be considered.

  99. “LOL! Mr. “formal logic” Sand FAILS to understand basic logic. Even if it is true that the Democratic congress has voted for irresponsible spending, how is hypocritical of ME to criticize the massively irresponsible budget deficit created by Bush and the Republicans AND RON PAUL?”

It’s not hypocritical as long as you accept that Ron Paul deviates considerably from current “conservatives” in policy and spending; and that Democrats have their share of contributions to our financial troubles.

“Do you at least agree that anyone moronic enough to DENY evolution (like Huckabee) is simply too much of a moron to be president? (or too controlled by Pat Robertson to be president)?”

For the most part, yes. I think we can make exceptions to people who are willing to examine the evidence, however. I’m not sure Huckabee would ever do so. Whereas, I think Ron Paul might actually be trying to be neutral about evolution.

//”Actually, I was offended by FOX News’ distortions of Obama’s childhood”

“Distortions”? They were outright LIES. Why make it sound better than it was?”//

Not necessarily. Obama did grow up in Indonesia, so I can’t call that a lie. Instead, I can infer from the tone of the reports that it was intended to suggest something negative. However, many of the things they reported about Obama were blatant lies. I don’t mean to diminish what FOX News did. I’m just not going to engage in an absolutist statement saying it was all a complete lie as that would be strictly inaccurate. Though I can agree that it could be characterized overall as a lie.

“The problem you made for yourself when you hurled that term is that “partisan” has two meanings- one positive and one negative. Did you mean “a firm adherent to a party, faction, cause, or person? Or did you mean “one exhibiting blind, prejudiced, and unreasoning allegiance” Do you admit that you were, at the very least, unclear?”

I meant the later. Sorry if I was unclear. However, I’m beginning to sense that perhaps I was too harsh in my judgment, as you are, on occasion, willing to make more subtle distinctions instead of only absolutist statements about Republicans.

  100. “You’ve also missed points all over this partisan pro-Paul website, especially all the places where I PROVED YOU WRONG. Do I need to repost all those too?”

If you actually proved me wrong and I haven’t responded, it’s probably because I didn’t get to a particular issue, yet. Sometimes it’s not worth the effort to comb for your statements that don’t involve mischaracterizations or logical fallacies. By the way, I’m not saying you are illogical. It may be your intention to respond fallaciously. People sometimes use fallacious arguments because sometimes they escape notice and appear to win arguments at the surface.
